The Danbury Cultural Commission announces that City high school students in grades nine through twelve are invited to submit their writing for the annual Poetry Contest. The contest is also open to any writers who do not formally attend a high school but are between the ages of fourteen through eighteen. Any high school aged student, studying in, or living in Danbury, may enter, but a winning student must have a social security number filed with the City of Danbury to receive a cash prize.
Poems may be Any theme or form of verse, may not exceed 200 lines, and use school-appropriate language and subject matter. No more than two poems per author should be submitted. Poems in non-English must have a written English translation. The deadline for entries is March twenty second. Students of winning submissions should be prepared to read the story aloud and then give a brief description of their inspiration for it at the May literary awards ceremony.
