From 2:00pm to 4:00pm Hamlet by the Western Connecticut State University Department of Theatre Arts by the Western Connecticut Department of Theatre Arts at the Visual and Performing Arts Center Studio Theatre, 43 Lake Avenue Extension, Danbury. Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, is home from school to mourn the death of his father, King Hamlet, who has died two months earlier. Hamlet is disgusted by the marriage of his newly widowed mother, Queen Gertrude, to his Uncle, King Hamlet’s brother, Claudius, who now has the throne.
From 8:00pm to 10:00pm Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by the Western Connecticut State University Department of Theatre Arts at the Visual and Performing Arts Center Studio Theatre, 43 Lake Avenue Extension, Danbury. A modern dramatic masterpiece, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead is the fabulously inventive tale of Hamlet as told from the worm's-eye view of the bewildered Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, two minor characters in Shakespeare's play. Written by Tom Stoppard.

Harmonia Chamber Players; Experience heartfelt-expressive artistryEach weekend since September the Richter Association for the Arts has brought visual and performance art the Art Center. The fall series is now coming to a close with the final two Sunday performances. This weekend experience heartfelt-expressive artistry and core resonance as the Harmonia Chamber Players perform masterworks by BoccheriniHaydnBeethovenDvorak, Bruch, and Rachmaninoff, along with all-time favorites from Broadway Musicals. Performers are Soprano Ana KouyoumdjianElizabeth Kalfayan cello, Lydia Headley piano, and Darla Coolman Bass. 

Richter Arts Events are on Sundays at 3pm. The Richter Arts Center is on the City's West side, just off I-84 Exit 2 at 100 Aunt Hack RoadDanbury, Connecticut. The Richter Association for the Arts is more than visual art. They have begun their Fall series, which continues through October. Next up, on October 29, is the Vladimiroff Trio.

Danbury Brass BandThe Danbury Brass Band will perform a pre-Halloween Concert in the Marian Anderson Recital Hall256 Main Street DanburyConnecticut on October 29, 2017 at 7:00 P.M.. This concert is an annual event, now held at the Danbury Music Centre, which this year includes two Premier performances Solemn Introduction and Scenes from the Rite of Spring, as well as other works.
The Danbury Brass Band performs throughout the year, mostly for holidays, in Danbury and around the world. Original pieces are written by members of the Danbury Brass Band and most arrangements are by Band Director Alan Raph

The Danbury Music Centre presents the Danbury Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Ariel Rudiakov on October 29 at 3:00 until 5:00 pm. Before the baton falls, participate in a pre-concert chat with Conductor, Ariel Rudiakov and Piano soloist, Robert Fertitta. The performance will include:

PUMPKIN PATCH PULLMAN


Vintage train to the pumpkin patch!

It’s the Fall harvest season so what better way to celebrate and welcome in the cooler weather than with a short ride on a vintage train to the Danbury Railway Museum’s Pumpkin Patch. This popular annual family event finishes it's three weekends, October 28-29 on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Sunday from noon to 4:00 PM at the museum, with trains departing hourly beginning ½-hour after opening each day; last train at 3:30. Admission is $12.00 for ages 2 and over; children under 24 months are free.

Danbury Railway Museum Pumpkin Patch train through October 2017Ride the Pumpkin Patch Train through the historic railyard in a 1920's passenger coach, pulled by a vintage ALCo RS-1 diesel-electric locomotive (or other vintage locomotive, subject to availability) to the special pumpkin patch where each child ages 2-12 will receive a free pumpkin. Of course, the exhibits, artifacts, and multiple operating model train layouts inside the restored over 100-year old Danbury station will be open for your education and entertainment. The kids can also enjoy the free activities such as the “coloring station,” temporary tattoos, cider & cookies, and more. There is a fully-stocked gift shop on the premises.  No reservations are required; the event will be held rain or shine.  Children are encouraged to come in costume.

Restaurant Week is your opportunity to try as many restaurants as your schedule allows for one incredibly low fixed price, your chance to give it a try with the security of knowing exactly what you will be spending. Restaurant Weeks happen several times a year in towns all over Connecticut as well as an annual state-wide week. Usually both lunch and dinner are fixed price menus offering several courses.

Artistic Smorgasbord

 October 15th at 2PM is your opportunity to Celebrate Richter. The day includes the final day of the 2017 Juried Art Show and is packed with events to support the Richter Association for the Arts. You will also enjoy entertainment by Musicals at Richter. There will also be a chance to review and discuss upcoming renovations and improvements at Richter House and Richter Park. Speakers include Mayor Mark Boughton, State Rep. David Arconti, Friends Of Richter Park (FORe) members, Richter Park Authority members and more.

Refreshments will be served, parking available at the golf course parking lot, with handicap parking at Richter House. And you might want to participate in Danbury Restaurant Week by making a Sunday ​12pm​ ​to​ ​3pm reservation at ​Cafe on the Green right at Richter Park. Artistic Smorgasbord 

 October 15th at 2PM is your opportunity to Celebrate Richter. The day includes the final day of the 2017 Juried Art Show and is packed with events to support the Richter Association for the Arts. You will also enjoy entertainment by Musicals at Richter. There will also be a chance to review and discuss upcoming renovations and improvements at Richter House and Richter ParkRichter Art Center proposed Renovations
Speakers include Mayor Mark Boughton, State Rep. David Arconti, Friends Of Richter Park (FORe) members, Richter Park Authority members and more.

Refreshments will be served, parking available at the golf course parking lot, with handicap parking at Richter House. And you might want to participate in Danbury Restaurant Week by making a Sunday ​12pm​ ​to​ ​3pm reservation at ​Cafe on the Green right at Richter Park. The special 3 course menu is just $20, plus Tax and Tip. (See the next story for more details.)

PUMPKIN PATCH PULLMAN

Vintage train to the pumpkin patch!

It’s the Fall harvest season so what better way to celebrate and welcome in the cooler weather than with a short ride on a vintage train to the Danbury Railway Museum’s Pumpkin Patch. This popular annual family event finishes it's three weekends, October 28-29 on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Sunday from noon to 4:00 PM at the museum, with trains departing hourly beginning ½-hour after opening each day; last train at 3:30. Admission is $12.00 for ages 2 and over; children under 24 months are free.

Pumpkin TrainsRide the Pumpkin Patch Train through the historic railyard in a 1920's passenger coach, pulled by a vintage ALCo RS-1 diesel-electric locomotive (or other vintage locomotive, subject to availability) to the special pumpkin patch where each child ages 2-12 will receive a free pumpkin. Of course, the exhibits, artifacts, and multiple operating model train layouts inside the restored over 100-year old Danbury station will be open for your education and entertainment. The kids can also enjoy the free activities such as the “coloring station,” temporary tattoos, cider & cookies, and more. There is a fully-stocked gift shop on the premises.  No reservations are required; the event will be held rain or shineChildren are encouraged to come in costume.

The Show spans two weeks including Sunday, Oct. 8 from 2 – 5 p.m. with the Hank Milligan concert at 3 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 15 from 2 – 5 p.m. with the Celebrate Richter Open House

The Big FRIENDS Book Sale 


Over the Columbus Day weekend, October 7th, 8th, and 9th, the annual Friends of the Danbury Library Book Sale will be held at the Police Athletic League (PAL) Building, 35 Hayestown Road Danbury (Across from Danbury Town Park). 
 
 

This year, along with the notable Rare & Collectible Book Offerings there is a Special Children's Section with Lovely Editions of Classic Children's Stories. This is in addition  to the Hard-To-Find Children's Books in the Rare & Collectible Area. Altogether there will be over 100,000 items sorted into over 50 categories! Most Hardcovers $2.00  Paperbacks .50 & up Collectible books - large selection of specially priced books from $5.00. 
 
FRIENDS of the DANBURY LIBRARY is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization working to further the educational and informational needs of the Danbury area through its support of the Danbury Library.

The 13th annual PUMPKIN FESTIVAL will be held rain or shine this Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the United Methodist Church of Danbury.
Admission is free and all are welcome! The church is located at 5 Clapboard Ridge Road in Danbury.

Danbury Restaurant Week Oct 9-15.



Almost two dozen City Restaurants will offer a special price menu for your Culinary Contentment. Eat out before or after one of the many Cultural/Arts eventsscheduled for the second week of October. Restaurant Week is your opportunity to try as many restaurants as your schedule allows for one incredibly low fixed price, your chance to give it a try with the security of knowing exactly what you will be spending. Restaurant Weeks happen several times a year in towns all over Connecticut as well as an annual state-wide week. Usually both lunch and dinnerare fixed price menus offering several courses.

Danbury Restaurant Week takes place October 9 – 15, 2017Simply a menu of pre-determined items presented as a multi course meal (typically an appetizer, entree and dessert) at a set price. Please keep in mind that beveragetax and gratuity are not included in the special pricing. There may be some restaurants that do offer a beverage, consult individual menus for specifics. Gratuity, however, is never included and the wait staff works very hard this week. Please tip generously!
