Downtown Chow-Down 2024 Through June 27

The City of Danbury, and CityCenter Danbury are excited to announce the seasonal collaborative culinary arts event, The Downtown Chow-Down!  The event will be held on the Ives Street GREEN, every Thursday starting May second until June twenty seventh, from eleven thirty a m, to one thirty p m. Lunchtime delights from local food trucks and live music will bring the community together. Come out and enjoy our outdoor food truck experience and play some games, if you wish, as we make the Ives Street Green the place to be this spring. 

Here’s the list of the featured food trucks lined up for this FOODTASTIC event this season: Cousins Lobster, Dish It Right Here, Twins Barbecue , Punchy Island Grill, Birria Truck, Bocagua Chimi Truck, and Brazilian Barbecue Boys.

The Stanley L Richter Association for the Arts Spring 2024 Performing Arts thru May 26 at 3 pm

The Stanley L Richter Association for the Arts Spring Twenty twenty four Performing Arts season continues with performances each Sunday at three p m, through May Twenty sixth. The next musical group is a Recital with Tobias Steymans on Violin, and Victoria Schwartzman on Piano, May Fifth at three p m. Their performance is indoors. 

Tobias Steymans began playing the violin at the age of six, and by the time he was twelve, he was already a preparatory student at the Music Academy in Cologne. Victoria Schwartzman was Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician. 

While major renovation is happening at the Richter Art Center, performances will be at the Danbury Museum, forty three Main Street. All Richter Arts events are at three P M and free with no tickets or reservations required for attendance. Please consider making a modest donation to help pay for the performances. Many of the performances are inside, at the Danbury Museum, Forty three Main Street, Danbury but for OUTDOOR performances, please bring seating.

JANE JACOBS STYLE NEIGHBORHOOD WALK MAY 4 10AM

The Danbury Cultural Commission is hosting a neighborhood walk on May fourth along Main Street Danbury. In cooperation with Jane Jacobs Day, we will walk along Main Street and our guide will highlight the locations of the nine theaters which are or were along the way. 

Meet inside the Commission office, Two Fifty Six Main Street, for the step off at ten A M. The tour will cover the Capitol to the Princess and the grand Opera house too, and takes about one hour. Wear sturdy and comfortable shoes. 

Sign up from the Commission’s website, DanburyArts dot Com, or send an email to Coordinator at DanburyArts dot com by May third at noon. So that everyone can hear, There are only ten places in the tour, so reserve your place soon.

Big Band Dance and Concert - Danbury Music Centre Saturday, April 13⋅7:30 – 9:00pm

Dust off your dancing shoes. The Danbury Music Centre Big Band is back on April thirteenth from seven thirty to nine p m In the Marian Anderson recital Hall at the Music Centre Two Fifty Six Main Street, Danbury, Connecticut. Municipal parking is available behind the building in the Bardo Garage. 

For the first time since Twenty nineteen the Big Band Concert and Dance hits the floor. Dance or just sit and enjoy the music provided by the musicians of the Danbury Music Centre led by Alex Thompson.

Tickets are Fifteen dollars if purchased before April twelfth or twenty dollars at the door. 

Light refreshments will be served. Veterans attend for free! 

All proceeds will benefit the Danbury Music Centre.

The Stanley L Richter Association for the Arts Spring 2024 Performing Arts April 17 at 3 pm

The Stanley L Richter Association for the Arts Spring Twenty twenty four Performing Arts season begins with performances each sunday at three pm from April Seventh and running through May Twenty sixth. 

Chang Ho Lim and Rachel Choo, Violin and Piano Duo Are the first performers for the season, and is indoors. 

Chang Ho Lim made his debut as a soloist with the Seoul National Symphony Orchestra and as a recitalist at the Kumho Prodigy Concert Series, where he was the winner of the Kumho-Asiana Cultural Foundation Auditions. Pianist Rachel Choo has been praised for her artistry and musical sensitivity, and enjoys an active career a soloist and chamber musician.

Holi on the Green April 6 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm FREE City Center Danbury

Celebrate Holi, the “Festival of Colors”, with our community on Saturday, April Sixth. Holi is a traditional Hindu festival that marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring with joy, fun, and color. Festivities begin at noon on Danbury’s CityCenter Green at Ives Street until three P M.

Throughout the festival, Gulal, a colorful food-grade powder, will be available at stations around the Green. This vibrant powder is thrown into the air and at one another – be aware you will go home full of COLOR! Remember to wear clothing that can get messy, and to show off your colorful attendance.

All ages are invited to attend. 

Rain date is Sunday, April 7th.  This is an outdoor event.  Dress accordingly for the weather and the power spray.

The Donkey Show WCSU April 5 - 14, 2024

Performing at Western Connecticut State University is The Donkey Show: A Midsummer Night's Disco. The show is presented in the Studio Theatre at the Visual and Performing Arts Center at WCSU and runs April fifth through the fourteenth. Evening and MatinĂ©e performances are available. 

Tony Award winner Diane Paulus's celebrated smash hit The Donkey Show brings you the ultimate disco experience, a crazy circus of mirror balls and feathered divas, of roller skaters and hustle queens inspired by Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. This disco-infused adaptation takes audiences on a wild, immersive journey through the magic and fairy-filled story, all the way to the dance floor, all underscored by seventies disco hits.
