Juneteenth Danbury 2022

Juneteenth will be celebrated in the city of Danbury on Sunday, June nineteenth from noon to 5 PM at Western Connecticut State University, Midtown Campus, One Eighty One White Street.

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the abolition of slavery in the United States. 

Rahsaan Langley, one of Connecticut’s premier R&B singers, will be the musical headliner. There will be other live entertainment also, plus Cultural and Historical Activities. Adjacent to the main area will be a Wellness Center providing FREE COVID-19 vaccinations and health screenings, Kids Corner with children’s activities, local vendors and informational resources, a variety of food truck options and so much more! Because Juneteenth falls on Father’s Day this year, the celebration will also honor fathers with swag bags and other tokens of appreciation.

Make Music Day 2022

Make Music Day Danbury is a part of the international Make Music Day movement, bringing free, community-wide, outdoor musical celebrations to hundreds of cities worldwide. Every year, the celebration is held on June 21st, the summer solstice, in more than 1000 communities around the world.

Make Music Day Danbury will feature 41 musicians at 11 venues throughout the Main Street area. Plus in the evening there will be a concert on the Green. You are welcome to join in. Musicians of all abilities and music from any genre are encouraged to participate. Sidewalks, parks, front porches, and public spaces throughout the city will become stages for local musicians to perform and for all to enjoy. Everyone is invited to participate in this international day of music by performing, providing an outdoor space, appreciating, or volunteering.

What is the Danbury Cultural Commission

The Danbury Cultural Commission is the citizen's voice for supporting cultural and artistic events in Danbury. They support and help fund performing arts programs for Danbury residents free of charge. The eleven-member Commission supports the development of new arts programs and supports and funds local arts, cultural and ethnic activities. The Commission also encourages, promotes and co-sponsors events which benefit and improve the quality of life for Danbury residents. Spring Concert Series at Richter Association for the Arts 2022 May 29

The Richter Association for the Arts Spring series concludes Sunday, May twenty ninth, at three pm with internationally renowned pianist Eric Clark and violinist Jung Won Yoon.

Pianist Eric Clark has performed to great acclaim throughout much of the United States as well as in Europe and Asia, and has received numerous, prestigious awards. Eric’s solo engagements include Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto, Grieg Piano Concerto, and Chopin Piano Concerto. 

Dynamic violinist Jung Won Yoon continues to expand her horizon as a musician by appearing as a soloist and chamber musician, and she is known for her distinct level of musical empathy and delicacy.

The concert series concludes Sunday at the Richter House May Twenty ninth. The concert is at three P M.

On Top of the World June 4

The Mad Hatters Chorus presents On Top of the World featuring the Midtown Quartet. Also performing are their own quartets Blue Moon, Kismet, Square Root of Sixteen, Rolling Tones, and The Brigadiers, on June fourth at seven p,m, in the first  Congregational Church One Sixty Four Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury. 

The Mad Hatters are members of the Barbershop Harmony Society and two Time New England Chorus Medalists. Be at the 56th Annual Show to hear songs from almost every era that will make you feel “On Top Of The World”.

A Far Cry, Danbury Concert Association May 2022

  

  

  The Danbury Concert Association offers virtuoso performances, in a pitch-perfect setting. The final concert of the season is A Far Cry with mezzo-soprano Krista River, on Sunday, May Fifteenth, Twenty Twenty Two, at a different time: seven PM.

“Boston’s best classical ensemble” returns to Danbury with a beautiful program about love, loss, and the divine, featuring mezzo-soprano Krista River in Respighi’s moving Il Tramonto. A Far Cry has risen to the top of Billboard’s Traditional Classical Chart, been named Boston’s best classical ensemble by The Improper Bostonian, and celebrated for two Grammy nominations. 

This performances take place at a special time, seven o'clock in the evening, at the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall, located in the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the Western Connecticut State University’s Westside Campus in Danbury, Connecticut.

Spring Concert Series at Richter Association for the Arts 2022 May 8

The Richter Association for the Arts Spring series continues Sunday, May Eighth, at 3:00pm with Billy Michael.

Voted Danbury's Number One Solo Artist, Billy Michael has been marching to the beat of popular music from a very early age. Billy Michael performs at area venues, where he brings the concept of audience participation to a whole new level.

The concert series continues most Sundays at the Richter House through May Twenty ninth. All concerts are at three P M.
