What is the Danbury Cultural Commission

The Danbury Cultural Commission is the citizen's voice for supporting cultural and artistic events in Danbury. They support and help fund performing arts programs for Danbury residents free of charge. The eleven-member Commission supports the development of new arts programs and supports and funds local arts, cultural and ethnic activities. The Commission also encourages, promotes and co-sponsors events which benefit and improve the quality of life for Danbury residents. A Far Cry, Danbury Concert Association May 2022

 The Danbury Concert Association offers virtuoso performances, in a pitch-perfect setting. The final concert of the season is A Far Cry with mezzo-soprano Krista River, on Sunday, May Fifteenth, Twenty Twenty Two, at a different time: seven PM.

“Boston’s best classical ensemble” returns to Danbury with a beautiful program about love, loss, and the divine, featuring mezzo-soprano Krista River in Respighi’s moving Il Tramonto. A Far Cry has risen to the top of Billboard’s Traditional Classical Chart, been named Boston’s best classical ensemble by The Improper Bostonian, and celebrated for two Grammy nominations. 

This performances take place at a special time, seven o'clock in the evening, at the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall, located in the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the Western Connecticut State University’s Westside Campus in Danbury, Connecticut.

Make Music Day 2022

 Make Music Day Danbury is a part of the international Make Music Day movement, bringing free, community-wide, outdoor musical celebrations to hundreds of cities worldwide. Every year, the celebration is held on June 21st, the summer solstice, in more than 1000 communities around the world.

Make Music Day Danbury will feature musicians of all abilities and music from any genre. Sidewalks, parks, front porches, and public spaces throughout the city will become stages for local musicians to perform and for all to enjoy. Everyone is invited to participate in this international day of music by performing, providing an outdoor space, appreciating, or volunteering.

It’s all for the love of music!

CityCenter Tastes of Danbury for the month of April

 CityCenter Danbury is excited to announce a very tasty event scheduled for the month of April.

Are you looking for a great way to get out and enjoy life while introducing your palate to some delicious food? For only Twenty five dollars, you can enjoy a variety of delicious meals from four different establishments throughout Danbury's downtown area! You heard that right, one payment of Twenty five dollars gets you four different meals, and you can go whenever you want through the month of April. That’s less than Ten dollars a meal, talk about savings! With so many awesome restaurants to check out, we had to split them into multiple months, so yes there will be more Tastes to come. This month your gastronomical grazing choices are: ItadakiMas - traditional Japanese, Cocina Del Tio - great Latin food, Los Rivera Cafe - authentic Mexican food, and La Mitad Del Mundo - Ecuadorian traditional cuisine. City Center has planned out this slightly gluttonous itinerary, so all you have to do is put on a pair of eating pants.

Spring Concert Series at Richter Association for the Arts 2022 April 24

The Richter Association for the Arts Spring series continues Sunday, April Twenty fourth, at 3:00pm with The Ashurst Irish Dancers, under the direction of Riverdance and Lord of the Dance stars, Craig and  Christina Ashurst.

This energetic performance of traditional and contemporary Irish dances features Regional Champions and World Championship qualifiers. And after the performance stick around for an opportunity to learn a step yourself from the teachers of the Ashurst Academy of Irish Dance, which was recently voted "Best Dance Studio in Connecticut!"

The concert series continues most Sundays at the Richter House through May Twenty ninth. All concerts are at three P M.

The Danbury Brass Band Springtime Concert 2022

 The Danbury Brass Band will perform their Springtime Concert on Sunday April Twenty fourth at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Eighteen Clapboard Ridge Rd, Danbury.

This concert will include works by Gabrieli, Richrd Rodgers, Gliere, Dizzy Gillespie, Stvie Wonder, Frank Zappa. Lennon & McCartney and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Also, Aaron Plude will play movements two and three of the Gliere horn concerto plus a world premiere of a piece by Thomas Caprino, will feature soloists Jerome Burns and Aaron Plude.

The Danbury Brass Band is conducted by Alan Raph, is currently in  its Thirty ninth year, and has performed extensively in the tri-state area as well as making multiple visits to Australia, Bermuda, New Zealand and Ireland.
