The Fiftieth anniversary of the Danbury Music Centre's production of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker is almost here. Tickets are still available for some performances. This is a one weekend opportunity. While there will be some tickets at the door, be sure and reserve yours today. Also be on the lookout for Handel’s Messiah in December too.

Fitting together is at the heart of the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut's Accessible Art program, a year-long, multi-site series of visual art shows that joins business with art. The Accessible Art runs through Friday, December 29th.

And, that portly gent from the North Pole will once again pay a visit to the Danbury Railway Museum and you can take a ride in a vintage train through the historic railyard to visit him. The rides take place on Saturdays and Sundays in December. Trains will depart every half-hour from 12:30 to 3:00 on Saturdays; 12:30 to 3:30 on Sundays.

CityCenter Danbury presents a free matinee screening of the holiday classic, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, with stars James Stewart and Donna Reed. One of the most beloved films of all time, It's a Wonderful Life was nominated for 5 Academy Awards and has been recognized by the American Film Institute as one of the 100 best American films ever made.

5:00pm to 6:30pm CityCenter Danbury, Light the Lights at the Library Plaza Main Street, Danbury.

Welcome Santa to CityCenter, who arrives Downtown by firetruck. Mayor Mark Boughton will help Light the Lights. The festivities include a lighted firetruck parade from Rose Street to Elmwood Park, and back, carolers, cookies, and more. And don't forget your camera.

7:30pm to 9:00pm the Danbury Community Orchestra in Concert sponsored by the Danbury Music Centre at the Visual & Performing Arts Center, 43 Lake Avenue Extension Danbury.

The Danbury Community Orchestra, under the direction of Stephen Michael Smith performs works by Gershwin, Copland and Brahms.

This wonderful Danbury tradition, now fifty years in a row, features over 200 dancers, accompanied by the Danbury Symphony Orchestra who play Tchaikovsky’s score, live. One weekend only.

And, The City of Danbury is asking local artists and graphic designers to submit proposals for the City’s Traffic Box Art Program, art that will be printed on traffic boxes throughout city center. Submissions will be open until January 8, 2018.

Driving down Padanaram Road every holiday season is the towering tree high atop M and M Precast. Come by and watch the first lighting of this tree. Join the family who gave the tree and the owners of M and M who prepare the annual City spectacle. Continuing throughout the season this tree shimmers for all to enjoy, in view for miles.

The cast turns them into a full-blown improvised musical complete with memorable characters, witty dialogue, and plot twists galore.

From 7:30pm to 8:30pm Danbury Concert Chorus, part of The Danbury Music Centre, performs, Love to the Soul, At the First Congregational Church, 164 Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury.
Scott Toperzer is a conductor and singer living in Ridgefield, Connecticut, who served as the Music Director at St. Stephen’s Church since 2010 and has conducted numerous choral ensembles. His singing career included operatic and concert, and studied with the world renowned French baritone, Gérard Souzay at the Institute Musicale de Villecroze, in Villecroze, France.

From 7:30pm to 8:30pm Danbury Concert Chorus, part of The Danbury Music Centre, performs, Love to the Soul, At the First Congregational Church, 164 Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury.
Scott Toperzer is a conductor and singer living in Ridgefield, Connecticut, who served as the Music Director at St. Stephen’s Church since 2010 and has conducted numerous choral ensembles. His singing career included operatic and concert, and studied with the world renowned French baritone, Gérard Souzay at the Institute Musicale de Villecroze, in Villecroze, France.

From 8:00pm to 11pm Evita by the Western Connecticut State University Department of Theatre Arts, on the Main Stage, 43 Lake Avenue Extension, Danbury.

From 10:30am to 2:30 pm Military personnel ride the “Railyard Local” for free at the Danbury Railroad Museum, 120 White St, Danbury. To Honor all past and present military personnel and their families take a short train ride in a 1920's passenger coach or a vintage caboose pulled by a vintage, first-generation diesel-electric locomotive. An appropriate ID is required. The museum is open from 10am to 4pm with train rides every hour from 10:30 to 2:30.
From 2:00pm to 5:00pm Evita by the Western Connecticut State University Department of Theatre Arts, on the Main Stage, 43 Lake Avenue Extension, Danbury.
From 7:00pm to 8:30pm The Prima Trio sponsored by the Danbury Concert Association at theVisual and Performing Arts Center, Studio Theatre, 43 Lake Avenue Extension Danbury.
Clarinetist Boris Allakhverdyan, violinist Gulia Gurevich, and pianist Anastasia Dedik have impressed audiences everywhere with their superb artistry, impeccable technique, and personable delivery. We look forward to welcoming them back to the Vee-PAC.
