The Connecticut Office of the Arts is currently accepting nominations for the position of Connecticut Poet Laureate. An individual poet must be nominated and deemed eligible to apply. Any Connecticut resident may nominate one poet for the Poet Laureate position. A self-nomination will not be accepted and no award will be given posthumously. Nomination Deadline is Friday, July 6, 2018.
The honorary position of Connecticut Poet Laureate was established in 1985 by the State of Connecticut, to serve as an advocate for poetry and promote the appreciation of and participation in poetry and literary arts activities among Connecticut citizens. The Connecticut Office of the Arts would like to say it has been a true pleasure to work with Rennie McQuilkin, who has served as Poet Laureate for the State of Connecticut since July 1, 2015.
