This week in Danbury, Connecticut

Here is A Glimpse of what's happening this week from the Danbury Cultural Commission.

Thursday, December 14.
7:30pm to 9:00pm, Danbury Centre Strings Concert presented by the Danbury Music Centre,
at the Marian Anderson Recital Hall, in the Danbury Music Centre at 256 Main St Danbury.
The Danbury Centre Strings, are under the direction of Glen Lebetkin.

Saturday, December 16.
2:00pm to 4:00pm, and again 8:00pm to 10:00pm, A Celtic Christmas with the Tartan Terrors at The Palace Danbury, 165 Main Street, Danbury.
A wonderful blend of Celtic Christmas Music, Dance, and Comedy, This unique performance features an amazing line up of talented Celtic artists, playing bagpipes, fiddle, guitar, percussion and dancing up a storm with their highland and East coast step dancing.

7:00pm to 9:00pm, The Harlem Gospel Choir presented by the Charles Ives Authority for the Performing Arts at Western Connecticut State University, Visual and Performing Art Center, 43 Lake Avenue Extension Danbury.
Performing contemporary gospel with a touch of jazz and blues, the World Famous Harlem Gospel Choir is synonymous with power vocals, glorious sound, and infectious energy. For over two decades they have been America’s premier gospel choir, and have toured the globe thrilling audiences with the inspirational power of black gospel music.

Sunday, December 17.
4:00pm to 5:30pm Handel’s Messiah sponsored by the Danbury Music Centre at the First Congregational Church, 164 Deer Hill Ave, Danbury.
The Danbury Concert Chorus, and members of the Danbury Symphony Orchestra, will perform Handel’s famous oratorio, Messiah.
Special Guest Conductor, James Blachly, will be there to conduct this annual tradition.
